A small town about 30 miles east of Kigali, Kayonza is home to nearly 1,000 sponsored children. Most families live in small mud huts or homes made of woven banana leaves. It is an impoverished community. Yet, they are filled with hope!
The main difference between a poverty-stricken child and a well-to-do child in Rwanda is education.
In 2003, Africa New Life opened a school, New Life Christian Academy, to give poor children, who otherwise couldn’t have afforded school, the same opportunities as the wealthy of the country.
In addition to New Life Christian Academy, Africa New Life has six children’s homes on the school property. And, New Life Bible Church meets in the cafeteria every Sunday.
Regardless of where they attend school, sponsored children in Kayonza come to New Life Christian Academy to participate in Center Day on Saturday at least once a month. At Center Day children are fed, correspond with their sponsors, enjoy games and hear about God.
Sponsorship changes the world for these kids!
