Praying for Rwanda: Jobs (DAY 11)

Posted on 12. Aug, 2010 by in BLOG, PRAYER, RWANDA

More than 60 percent of people in Rwanda live below the poverty line (the poverty line in Rwanda is much below that of the U.S.).  And many believe that 30 percent of Rwandans are unemployed.

Many people are casual laborers–digging up crops, sweeping the streets and doing basic housework for neighbors–trying to make ends meet.  People constantly move to Uganda looking for work.  And many have left Kigali, the capital city, hoping to find jobs.

Sponsored children are the next generation of workers.  And they desperately need jobs to survive.

Today we pray for Rwanda’s economy, that more businesses would establish themselves in Kigali and provide jobs for the Rwanda people.  We pray for the government to develop creative ways to draw businesses to the country.  We pray for God’s favor on Rwanda’s Vision 2020.  Lastly, we pray for the health of Rwanda’s economy in the years to come.
