Growing up as the child of Rwandan refugees in Uganda, Charles developed a passion for children and education. After returning back to Rwanda, following the genocide, Charles attended Multnomah Bible College in Portland Oregon where with help of his wife Florence and a small group of people he started Africa New Life Ministries.

Alan HotchkissAlan Hotchkiss
US Executive Director

In 2008, after serving as the National Director of Church and Community Partnerships at the Palau Association for 10 years, Alan joined the Africa New Life team. Visiting Rwanda and meeting his sponsored children in 2006 changed Alan’s life forever! Today he uses his passion for the children of Rwanda to encourage others to partner with Africa New Life.

Alan lives in Portland, OR with his wife. They have two daughters and attend Imago Dei.

Fred KatagwaFred Katagwa
Rwanda Executive Director

Fred grew up as a refugee child in Uganda after his parents fled Rwanda in the 1950’s during the civil war. He was born during the dictatorship of Idi Amin in Uganda and experienced what it felt like to go to bed hungry and not be able to go to school.

Currently, Fred Isaac Katagwa is the Executive Director- Africa New Life Ministries Rwanda, a position he has held since 2002. And he is part of the top management Team Africa New Life Ministries.

US Director of Operations

Dave is passionate about serving Christ and helping others. On his first mission trip to Rwanda, God’s presence was so evident to Dave that he knew he wanted to focus his attention, resources and life on Rwanda. After 11 years as a business owner and nearly 20 years in the business world, Dave joined the Africa New Life team!

Dave lives outside of Portland, OR with his wife. They have three children and attend Grace Chapel.

During her first trip to Rwanda, Angie discovered an authenticity she had never felt before. After serving as the Children’s Ministry Director at her church for 10 years, Angie decided to join the Africa New Life team and use her passion for families and children to help Rwanda.

Angie lives outside of Portland, OR with her husband, Todd. They have two sons and attend Grace Chapel.

Communications and Sponsorship Coordinator

Once you’ve spent time in Africa, a part of your heart remains. At least, that’s how Brooke feels. After spending three months in Mozambique, Brooke devoted her life to Africa. In 2007, after working in communications and marketing for nearly two years, Brooke joined the Africa New Life staff. Now she thinks about, writes about and talks about Rwanda all day!

Brooke lives in Portland, OR with her husband, Chris. They attend Solid Rock.

Finance Manager

The children’s faces. That’s what captured Jennifer’s heart. And after visiting Rwanda, the beauty of those children’s faces was only magnified by their joyfulness, gratefulness and sincerity. In 2006, Jennifer began working for Africa New Life. Although she works behind a computer in the U.S. Office, Jennifer feels forever tied to the small country of Rwanda, 9,000 miles away.

Jennifer lives in Vancouver, WA with her husband, Dan. They attend St. Joseph.

Africa New Life Regional Representatives

Africa New Life Regional Representatives share the vision of Africa New Life in different areas around the U.S.

Natalie GreenNatalie Green
Austin, TX

In 1984, Natalie was powerfully affected by the famine in Ethiopia. She was six years old. God planted a seed in her heart for Africa that has been blooming ever since. Natalie’s trip to Rwanda in 2007 to meet her sponsored child opened her eyes to what her heart felt all along: the calling to love, nurture and serve helpless children. After two years teaching 4th grade in Austin, and five years working in project management on Wall Street in New York City, she feels blessed to make her calling her daily vocation with ANLM.

Natalie is a Regional Program and Ministry Partner based in Austin, Texas. She will assist in building ANLM’s major programs/ministries including Sponsorship, Partnerships, Short Term Mission Trips, and Education & Awareness Initiatives in the United States.
